Our Founding Story
Born From Personal Loss
After losing his father to bowel cancer — diagnosed at stage four — and watching his brother's health severely impacted by a misdiagnosis at just 35, Dr Chun Tang was determined to change the way cancer is detected in the UK.
Working with his wife Dr Clara Weisshaar and biochemist Prof. Dr. Maria-Paz Weisshaar — who has a deep research connection with Mainz Biomed (the manufacturer of ColoAlert) since 2008 — Dr Tang founded Biox Medical in 2019 to introduce this non-invasive, next-generation screening kit to the UK.

Biox Medical is founded by Dr Chun Tang, Dr Clara Weisshaar and Prof. Dr. Maria-Paz Weisshaar. Partnership with Mainz Biomed established to bring ColoAlert to the UK.
