Biox Medical was founded in 2019 by Dr Chun Tang (GP and Medical Director), Dr Clara Weisshaar (Innovation Director), and Prof. Dr. Maria-Paz Weisshaar (Director of R&D). The company was born from Dr Tang's personal experience — after losing his father to bowel cancer and watching his brother's health severely impacted by misdiagnosis. Their goal was to introduce the ColoAlert non-invasive screening test to the UK and make cancer prevention technologies widely accessible.

ColoAlert (biovis Test Set 920) is a stool-based bowel cancer screening test manufactured by biovis Diagnostik MVZ GmbH in Germany. It combines faecal immunochemical testing for haemoglobin and haptoglobin with qPCR analysis of the genetic markers KRAS, BRAF and hDNA in a single stool sample. It is intended for adults aged 45+ who do not have bowel symptoms. If you have bleeding, a persistent change in bowel habit, unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain or unexplained tiredness, see your GP rather than using a home screening test. ColoAlert is a screening test and not a diagnosis: an abnormal result requires colonoscopy, and a normal result does not exclude bowel cancer.

Test Set 920 (ColoAlert) is manufactured by biovis Diagnostik MVZ GmbH as an in-house medical device under Regulations (EU) 2017/745 and 2017/746; the ColoAlert stool collection tube is CE-IVD marked. Samples are analysed exclusively at biovis in Limburg-Eschhofen, Germany, a medical laboratory accredited to DIN EN ISO 15189. Our other products are supplied by their respective manufacturers under their own conformity arrangements.

Some policies may reimburse screening tests, but many insurers exclude routine screening in people without symptoms. Please check directly with your own insurer before ordering. Results are delivered via password-encrypted communications and come with full clinical documentation suitable for GP referrals and insurance claims.
